Lake Martha Association Meeting Minutes Tuesday 8-March-2016 Agenda
August Meeting Minutes Nate Johnson Treasurer Report Jim Miller Midwest Aqua Care Theresa Witstine Association Due Theresa Witstine New Business Meeting Theresa called the meeting to order at 7:07PM - Introductions of members present at the meeting. Officers: - Theresa Witstine: President - Caitlin Myers: Vice President - Nate Johnson: Secretary - Jim Miller: Treasurer Nate Johnson Read the Minutes from the August meeting Nate Johnson Read the Treasurer Report - Sandy and Dorothy Approved the minutes and treasury report Tereasa walked through the weed treatment and forms to fill out - 1st Treatment mostly for curly leaf - 2nd Treatment coon tail and other varieties - Have had issues in the past where the DNR came out and did not approve permit. Will make a note to contact the DNR to come out and treat - Midwest Aqua Care will send out a bill - Note Dave Tabbut mentioned that Lake Charlotte had Milfoil last year and with treatment and care saw no visible signs of Milfoil at last years end. Tereasa walked through the lake association fees - Free for first year members - Checks made out to the Lake Martha Lake Association - $10 for permit fee and $50 for association dues Questions about fertilize - Community Lawn Care is used by many home owners to help with fertilizer. They offer kickbacks to the association by using them. Association Website: www.lakemartha.com Discuss meetings for the year: - The Rachel Kugler offered to host the lake picnic on July 30th - June 14th was designated as the next meeting time. Meeting location TBD In July we typically do a boat parade are 2:00PM, Theresa will send out a reminder. New Business: - Letter from soil and water that there is money available from the state to treat. We dont have a project big enough to qualify for funds. Proposed Member Project: (early detection of the zebra mussel infestation) o Volunteers would hang a brick from their docks and monitor 1 time a week and 1 person from our lake would get training and train us what to look for. Since it is a DNR program we send them that information. This could help find zebra mussels. Theresa would look into further about next steps and have been collecting bricks. - There was discussion to possibly do the $1,500 plant survey every other year People discussed treatments done to the lake in the past - From late fall of 2000 to spring of 2001 we treated the bottom of the lake with magnetite to capture some of the accumulated phosphorus from the sediments that had accumulated over the years. - Mentioned that across Co. Rd 33 the University of Minnesota and Wright Soil and Water Conservation District installed a "Minnesota Filter" to capture Phosphorus from farm watershed before entering our lake.
